Charles the Humble Technician shows how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is located at the edge of transmission, above the flywheel gear. It sends a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire (T55/49), then to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.

  1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also where the camshaft lies in order to activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of an issue with the chain or a jumpy chain link in the upper chain. However, the error code won’t appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit challenging because there are two pins for the connector and they perform different functions however the best method of testing it is to measure the resistance between the sensor and <a href="audi”>https://autolocksmiths42227.bloggactivo.com/29352098/11-creative-methods-to-write-about-audi-key”>audi Replacement key fob the ECU. It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor is in full operation. Look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you are experiencing issues with this component.

  1. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll i had an abrupt drop in power like the engine is out of gas or injectors aren’t firing any more. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, 3 were soaked with gazoline and the 4th one was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each injector hole, and when i start the engine with no sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump right out. The fourth one remains shut. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found zero ohm. I assume that the problem is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it is running fine with the G28 plugged in. However, the intermittent misfire problem continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of that is -49c even after unplugging it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is 0.

I’m not certain what to do, but i believe that i’ve ruled out everything else. But i’m worried that I may have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know! TIA!

  1. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate the spare in a salvage shop or parts store. Testing them is easy to do – just put your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector’s end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black connector’s end). They must be infinite Ohms.

  1. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B, AAN, ABY and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that needs to know the position and speed of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about fuel injector timing etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to accomplish this. If either of these sensors go bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner that can lead to engine shutdown.

Some of the symptoms of a failing G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox, gears shifting quicker than normal and/or a misfire when in gear. If you experience any of these issues, it is likely that your sensor is deteriorating and needs replacing. The good thing is that they are very cheap and readily available, especially in the case of the Bosch model, like ours. You can also choose the GM version of this component is also a great option.

  1. Tachometer

A failing engine speed sensor could be the cause of numerous problems in your car. It’s an essential component of the <a href="Replacement”>https://carlocksmiths13630.link4blogs.com/51696990/why-you-ll-definitely-want-to-read-more-about-audi-spare-key”>Replacement Key Audi‘s transmission as it sends information to the ECU about how fast or slow the car’s crankshaft is turning. If this sensor fails, it can disrupt the performance of the transmission as well as the other car’s components.

It transmits a signal via a gray wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU uses this signal to regulate the flow of fuel and boost and also to timigrate. It also relays it to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection to pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should observe around 1000 ohms of resistance between these two points. This is a typical part across the <a href="audi”>https://autolocksmith96720.blogdosaga.com/29600318/the-best-place-to-research-replacement-car-key-audi-online”>audi q7 replacement key 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU so good ones could be available in wrecking yards.
