This called for further research and pleaded with scientists and governments not to move too fast to curb greenhouse CO2 emissions because as the authors explained, the true impact of carbon dioxide was not at all certain, and curbing the use of fossil fuels could have a huge, negative impact on the economy, jobs, and developed nations’ standard of living. It is admittedly blindingly obvious that humans have been able to have some effect on this climate change particularly on a local scale where humans engage in large scale removal of trees, burn fossil fuels with little regard for the consequences and add pollutants to the air in vast quantities. Since activities like burning fossil fuels only represents a relatively tiny contribution to the total carbon dioxide present it is difficult to be certain how much effect changing this form of human behaviour might have on global temperature.
