Support request, plugin: PDF Light Viewer Pro Addon can not make text searchable (Trying to access array errors)

Matthew Strange asked 4 years ago

I just purchaced the ‘Pro’ add-on, but when I re-import any PDF after checking the "Enable search through PDF" option, it reports "Import process failed due to the unknown error." (BTW: proper English would be ‘due to AN unknown error’)

Here are the errors reported at the bottom of the import screen:

[pdf-light-viewer] shortcode cannot be rendered due to the error: No converted pages found.

If PDF has been already converted, then probably there were some errors during the import. Please check <a href="https://hilites.net/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=pdf-light-viewer" target="_blank">plugin error log on the settings page and your site error log for errors.

Hello Matthew, thank you for your message and correction. At the moment I cannot replicate the issue on my end. And as far as I can see you could successfully import some PDFs already ( https://hilites.net/current/#page/1 ). Do you still have an issue with the import? If yes, is it possible you to record a short screencast of the import process so I could see the workflow? Thank you in advance

Finally, today (17 Mar, 2021) I got an email with access info. Now I can respond! As of now…
#1: We are not FULLY successfully importing PDFs. Each import throws a bunch of errors, and sometimes it fails to convert, leaving extra PDFs for us to clean up.
#2: The checking "Enable search engine optimization" option fails 100% of the time. (Same as Patti Burks reported in https://support.wp.teamlead.pw/q/archive-links-to-page-not-found/
#3: The PDF archive is empty. (See https://hilites.net/pdf/)
If you want access to the site to test any of these issues, let me know and I'll set up a user for you.

Also, we just updated to WordPress 5.7 — we will try to retest soon and report if anything has improved.

We’re currently running WordPress 5.7.2 and all of these issues are still unresolved.
Also, the "Enable search through the PDF" option fails with this error: "This function cannot be enabled because text was not parsed from PDF. If you’ve imported current PDF in free version, then I’ll need to re-import it. If PDF doesn’t contain text (only images), then this function cannot be enabled for this PDF."
You can see the current pdf at https://hilites.net/current/ and we can give you admin access if you need that to figure out why it is failing.
Update: added link to https://support.wp.teamlead.pw/q/archive-links-to-page-not-found/ in comment above pointing to Patti Burks’ issue which we also experience.
